On the Road to a Marathon

Posted in Training by cathleen on the February 21st, 2007

I have officially signed up for my first marathon.  It will be the inaugural running of the Manchester Marathon.  The marathon was run 60 years ago from Concord to Manchester.  Now, 60 years later, we will be running through Manchester and surrounding towns.  I will begin my training in July.  Keep watching for posts once the serious training begins!

Good luck! In my experience, running marathons requires alot of mental concentration in addition to the super human endurance that us marathoners are known for :) I ran mine well before MP3 players came out, so I actually had a “walkman” CD player ace-bandaged to my arm. Listening to music really helped me maintain my breathing cadence as well as taking my mind off of those awful calf cramps I got around mile 18.

keep on running! It’s a tough race, but you’ll be forever grateful that you did it.
