$1000 Goal Has Been Reached!!
I wanted to say thank you to all that answered my $1000.00 pledge goal. So many people made such generous donations. I look forward to collecting pledges above and beyond my goal. There is still time to pledge. Race day is 22 days away!
Thanks,
Cat
Hyannis Half Marathon
I have officially completed my second half marathon. My goal was to beat 1:50:00 as my Seacoast Half Marathon time was 1:52:48. My gun time at Hyannis was 1:45:15! My average pace was 7.5 mph, running an 8 minute mile on average. So much better than I ever thought I would do! No pictures though! I crossed the finish line 3 minutes before the hubby and Dad got there. Capstone photography was there though – we’ll see what their pics look like. Thanks to all for the support.
Running for a Cause
This is my Mother, myself, and my daughter:

My mother was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis 2 years ago.
What is Pulmonary Fibrosis?
As defined by the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation: Pulmonary Fibrosis involves scarring of the lung. Gradually, the air sacs of the lungs become replaced by fibrotic tissue. When the scar forms, the tissue becomes thicker causing an irreversible loss of the tissue’s ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream.
You can find more information about Pulmonary Fibrosis directly from the Foundation’s web site: pulmonaryfibrosis.org
How Can You Help?
I will be running in the Great Bay Half Marathon on Sunday April 1st. Runners have the opportunity to raise money for sponsored charities. I’m happy to say that the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is one of the chosen charities this year.
Please consider pledging money to sponsor me as I run the race. All monies pledged will go 100% to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Neither I, nor the race, take any percentage of the proceeds raised. In fact, all checks should be made out directly to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
To donate to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at cathleen.brown@gmail.com first so I may record your sponsorship. Please include your name, phone number, and pledge amount.
Donations must be received two weeks after the race completion (April 15th, 2007).
Thank You!
I thank you for your support as this will be my third half marathon since starting in the sport in May of 2006.
Boston Marathon??
Many of you may already know that in order to run Boston, you need to either run a qualifying marathon in a certain time (3:40:00 for my group) or you can earn a bib if you raise money for a sponsored charity.
In June 2007, the Boston Marathon will be taking applications for new charities. I have already reached out to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation to apply to be a part of the program for the 2008 running. Please let me know if there are others out there who would be interested in helping the PFF get on the list of charities!! I would love to be able to run Boston – as CHALLENGING a course as it is – but I am not confident that I will have a qualifying time by the Manchester Marathon in November being my first time out. What better way to be able to earn a number than to make money for a foundation that means something to me??
Keep me posted!
On the Road to a Marathon
I have officially signed up for my first marathon. It will be the inaugural running of the Manchester Marathon. The marathon was run 60 years ago from Concord to Manchester. Now, 60 years later, we will be running through Manchester and surrounding towns. I will begin my training in July. Keep watching for posts once the serious training begins!
Half Marathon Training
Just a few days to go to the Hyannis Half Marathon. This will be a great practice run to prep for the Great Bay Half. I raced my first Half last November and ran in under 1:53. My goal at Hyannis is to come in under 1:50. I hope to post my best time yet at the Great Bay Half as I race for Mom!
I have been racking up the mileage while training, hitting an all time high of 32.55 miles the week beginning 2/5. This week is an easy week in preparation for Hyannis. I hope to have some pictures to post next week.
Pledge Update
A great big THANK YOU to all that have pledged money thus far! Can you help me make my goal of sending at least $1000 to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of my mom?? I am so appreciative of everyone’s support. Keep the pledges coming!!
